Hello, Since i'm here i figured I'd relate what is going on with our restoration.

We have two aircraft one is an S-55 and the other is a converted H-19 Army helo to S-55. We also have a trailer full of R-1300 engines spare componets for them, rotor blades, rotor heads, transmissions ect... As well as all publications for the various systems and structures.

Last summer me and one other A&P pulled all the panels off and removed the fuel tanks and the pilots seats. There are many areas of the skin that need patching but we lack much experience with magnesium skin.

The S-55 is our current focus and has a standard type certificate. It most recently flew about 6 years ago. The H-19D was brought out on a flat bed. It is badly corroded and for the moment is sitting in a field. We hope to get the engine running again this year. Last year while doing an engine run the carb throttle mount leaked fuel down onto the starter cable ingnited a fire. The damage was limited but some of the smaller wires were damaged and a new packing was installed. (it was an original and had torn when the cap was removed to prime the system before the start allowing fuel to seep out) We are still waiting for new cables and also are ready to send the fuel tanks out to be re lined.

Hopefully with some help we can have this aircraft running by the end of the summer and soon after get it re-certified for flight.

This Project is currently being done In West Fulton NY.
